UPDATES!

Our little monkey is changing so fast! David and I sat down and wrote every word she knows and we hit the 100 mark today! She's shy with her words, though, so Mommy and Daddy get to hear a lot more than most of our visitors! It's funny because as she's learned to communicate, she's definitely become more picky. Tonight at dinner David and I were eating grilled chicken with barbecue sauce. Hadley was fussing and I asked, "do you want barbecue sauce?" while putting my hand on the bottle. She said "no," pointed and again started fussing. We couldn't figure out the problem and then when I finally put my hand on the ketchup she nodded her head and said, "yes!" Now, tell me that is not picky! If she drops food into the pocket of her bib, or accidentally has some food drip on her chin, she says, "uh oh Mama!" and wants me to immediately clean it up. She picks up the dog hair from the floor and says, "icky," reminding me I need to swiffer more often! Wonder where she got her particular nature from, hmmm? Both of us-that's the problem!

Favorite words right now include, "digger" (we live near construction sites), "bib," "wash," "boo boo," "piano," "hot" (everything is hot-food, the oven & stove, the sidewalk, fireplace, a candle on the TV)," and "potty." That is the other newest thing around here. Hadley had been showing some interest in the potty so we bought her a little potty for her bathroom. Whenever we change her diaper we ask her if she wants to go potty (hey, the diaper is already off at that point!) and she usually says "yes" and runs to the bathroom. We had two times where she pottied on the floor while looking into her potty and then today she actually went in the potty! Most likely this was just coincidental timing, but nonetheless, an exciting moment!

Hadley has also become more nurturing- she has a baby doll that she pushes all around in the stroller, rocks to sleep, and feeds with a bottle. She wants to hug Daddy and Mommy all the time ("hugga") and wakes up from her naps yelling, "Dadda!!" excitedly! She is generally happy, but does have a strange habit when she is frustrated. She will hit her forehead on whatever is closest to her when she gets mad. For example, the floor, the wall, the slide, the dog, the table, etc...and she hits it really hard...hard enough to make her cry and leave a red mark on her forehead. We think this is pure manipulation because she cries and then looks at us with huge alligator tears and says "up" and wants a snuggle. That way, we forget about whatever it was we were scolding her for. It is really odd and we are trying to ignore it for now!

David is still travelling a ton, mostly to Boston, but we are getting used to it. He seems to be home a week, gone a week, and repeat! I am working Monday, 1/2 day Wednesday, and Friday. I love my schedule. We have a sitter at our house for M and F, and Wednesdays we alternate between Hadley's great grandma (yes, GREAT!) and David's mom. We are truly enjoying being around parents, grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neices, and nephews- it is such a blessing! The house is getting decorated a little at a time, but we finally have blinds up-so that's a huge step! I'm sure the neighbors didn't like seeing me in my jammies washing dishes every night! We love our neighborhood-great people, fun pool, and 4 playgrounds withing biking distance! You know your a mom when you can get excited about a new playground being built in the area! Anyways, we are settled in and very happy! The only bad thing is I sure do miss my SCO buddies!
